LITERACY AND DIVERSITY THEMES
Available October-December 2007

Kids imagine a world where there are pet tigers, and vending machines that dispense food for the homeless!

Dreams dramatizes the stories of kids’ dreams for themselves, their families, and the world.  These sometimes moving, sometimes funny, stories and songs were written by young people ages 6-12 from various cultural backgrounds, including African-American, Latino, Anglo, and Asian. Some of the child authors lived in Colorado, but were originally from the countries of Chili, Tanzania, Russia, China, Yugoslavia, Poland, Kuwait, India, Japan and Brazil.  There are also stories by kids who were homeless and by a girl in a wheelchair.

Dreams was performed 240 times in past seasons to the delight of students, teachers and administrators.  The professional performers present all the writing in a way that is sensitive and fun, from the invention of a chemical that brings rain forest trees back to life, to a silly poem about having the power to turn everything into chocolate.

This play celebrates kids as writers and as dreamers!
